To me, that conjures up images of Captain Birdseye, or maybe Captain Barbarosa in the <em>Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em> films. But no,the &#8220;Grizzled Skipper&#8221; is actually a small, dark-grey-to-black butterfly.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_216\" style=\"width: 580px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/stevedeeley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MG_3005m1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-216 \" style=\"width: 570px;\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/stevedeeley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MG_3005m1-570x403.jpg\" alt=\"grizzled skipper butterfly\" width=\"570\" height=\"403\" data-large-rendition=\"http:\/\/stevedeeley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MG_3005m1-1140x806.jpg\" data-full-rendition=\"http:\/\/stevedeeley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MG_3005m1.jpg\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.artofthewild.co.uk\/blog\/?attachment_id=216\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-216\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">grizzled skipper butterfly<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Now this butterfly is one of a family of Skippers, and it has a fairly rough-and-ready look, so I suppose that &#8220;Grizzled Skipper&#8221; could make sense in some ways, but it&#8217;s a tiny little thing, barely bigger than my thumbnail. It looks delicate enough to blow away in a light breeze.
